Bilingualism has become an important research topic in the last years not only around the world but also in our country. For this reason, this study pretends to find out significant results that allow an improvement in the bilingual education policies which should be directly applicable in the classroom. The study took place in two public schools in Quindío. The participants in the first school were 22 students in fifth grade and their English teacher. In the second school, the participants were 39 students of seventh grade as well as their English teacher. This research presents a qualitative approach and a case study design in order to establish the sort of classroom interaction that emerges from a written text in the English class. It is necessary, then to identify the teachers’ beliefs about bilingualism, bilingual education policies and relevant issues related to bilingualism. Once these teachers’ beliefs are established, it is required to determine the way in which these beliefs are reflected in the classroom interaction.
