This research was carried out with lignocellulosic particles, coming from native plants such as coffee, “guadua and guasca de plátano” from the Region of Quindio in Colombia, different from those used in composites manufactured commercially. These particles were blended with a thermo resin, compressed and then, submitted to temperature during a certain time with a thermoforming press, manufactured in the laboratory, and subsequently, they were dried at room temperature. At the end of the manufacturing and drying process, the composite was observed through a stereoscope in order to analyze its fiber-resin adhesion and its porosity. Afterwards, it is submitted to mechanical and water absorption tests and analysis taking into account the ASTM norms for wood particles boards. The mechanical tests were performed with a Universal Machine also manufactured to this research Project. Once the composites were exposed to destructive tests, images were taken through a microscope SEM right in the material’s break point to know the fiber behaviour. The obtained results were compared to those previously made to a commercial composite which mechanical parameters are demanded by the international norms regarding rigidity and load resistance. The tests’ results to our composite are comparable to the commercial ones and in some of them, superior in, for instance, water absorption and hardness to penetration. The composite manufactured with guadua 500 µm gave in traction and flexion the best capability to support load showing values that overcome commercial composites as well as composites manufactured in this Project.
