Quindío; this research was designed in order to promote the teaching and learning of early reading and writing students in first grade of elementary school. The proposal has as theoretical foundations the postulates of Emilia Ferreiro and Ana Teberosky, Yetta Goodman and Isabel Solé, all from the perspective of meaningful learning and social constructivism. According with the purpose, the theoretical foundations and the needs identified educational institution subject of this investigation: What educational project of early literacy with relevance in long term will allow further processes of teaching and learning of reading and writing in first grade basic of School St. Vicente de Paul in the municipality of Génova (Quindío) ?. The methodology that guides the whole research process is action research in the classroom, part of the focus of Lauren Stenhouse, vision that promotes educational research involving teachers and students in their learning processes.
