In this paper the design and experimental development of an electrochemical reactor of two compartments for the recovery of gallium, indium and antimony secondary waste epitaxy technique in liquid phase implemented in the
laboratory of optoelectronics at the Interdisciplinary Institute of Sciences is
proposed, enrolled University of Quindío. The thesis was written in article
format. Chapter 2 is called hydrodynamic behavior of an electrochemical reactor
for recovery of In, Ga and Sb in the waste from the manufacture of
semiconductor films and as a result of this there have been two publications in journals of the Faculty of Engineering, Technological and Pedagogical University of Colombia, January-June 2013 and the magazine Tumbaga Faculty of Science, University of Tolima in June 2013; Chapter 3 is called the kinetic evaluation of electrochemical reduction of indium gallium antimony on a lead-tin
alloy and Chapter 4 is called efficiency of the electrodeposition of indium gallium antimony in an electrochemical reactor of separate compartments. These items are under review in the journal science in development of the UPTC and engineering magazine of the University of Antioquia. The mathematical model 9
governing the hydrodynamic behavior of the reactor is a regime of laminar flow without dead zones, or scatter points, parameters needed to scale or pilot-scale industrial plant; also the kinetics of the redox reactions involved in the electrodeposition process of antimony, gallium and indium on an electrode leadtin
finding reduction potentials of -1.05, -0.82 and -0.34 V respectively evaluated and a diffusion coefficient of 0.0139192 cm2/s suitable for proper migration of metal ions from the electrolyte solution to the cathode surface. Efficiencies electrodeposition of said metal 73, 46 and 25% for Sb, Ga and In correspondingly were found, finding the best physical quality antimony electrodeposition.
